Planning your wedding day make-up

Advice from professional make-up artist, Tamee René

Words by Tamee Rene Brancati

Your wedding day is one of the most memorable and special moments of your life. So much planning and organising, the venue, the perfect gown, accessories, hair and your make-up! Your wedding day will be captured forever in your wedding photographs, video and of course, the memories of your family and friends. You will want to look your absolute best, but many brides are unsure of the most flattering make-up style to suit their face, or how to find a reputable professional make-up artist that can make her dreams of being breathtakingly beautiful become a reality.

Finding inspiration

Firstly, I would suggest browsing through magazines and looking closely at the many styles of make-up pictured. Do you find a softer, more natural look is appealing or do you love a sexy, smoky eye-make-up style and a little more drama? Also, look for make-up styles pictured on girls with similar skin and eye colour to yourself. If you are blonde and blue-eyed, don't compare yourself to an olive-skinned brunette as the style of make-up will look entirely different on you. Look through magazines and place any pictures you find appealing in a folder to take to your make-up trial. A natural, fresh, classic look is always popular and timeless.
